Why am I not surprised?

Medical researchers from Utrecht in the Netherlands have found that the gene that encourages lightning fast reflexes, for pwning players in games such as Halo or Quake, is also the same gene responsible for premature ejaculation.

This gives a whole new meaning to the term "cumshot."

Why? Do these people even have time for sex? Most likely their sex life will be limited to online sessions.

Question to one and all. What is your perception of the typical gamer? Age/Sex/Income etc.

More on twentysomething and lower. Thirtysomething higher don't have the time, reflexes and the stamina to go through those games especially Quake, CS, etc. where the movements can make one feel like vomiting.

I'm not a gaming geek. YEY! My reflexes in games suck...BIG time! =D YEY!
I am, not 18-32, but am male like most gaming geeks, and my income less investments is probably like a gaming geek but I don't spend it all on pizza deliveries.

Charaan! The common perception of a gamer is a slacker, predominantly male, in his late teens to twenties. Statistically, however, the gamer is in his or her thirties and working, and almost half are female.

So does that mean you can go like lumberjack? Ehehehe.

Wait. Don't answer that. I don't need to know.

Your assumptions are flattering, why thank you.

But....weeeeell... it's more like I can go on and on with the thing they call...uhm..uhm...communication, and totally missing the point or before getting to the point. (it was not easy trying not to put a single word in there that might catch our moral police. hahaa! Baka sabihin pang Abante and sinulat ko at i-jail ako =p )

Now... i didn't know about the 50% of the gaming population as being women! It can have it's advantages I guess, no more nagging while the man is watching football.

That might be a foreign survey. The statisticians haven't gone to local computer shops. The statistics there point to preteens to twenties while thirties to upwards prefer to chat in the hope of getting some SEB for males or single white male for females.

i have the stats from a recent study of the online gaming industry in the phils somewhere. if i remember correctly, it's mostly late teens to twenty-somethings, mostly male, currently attending high school or college, from middle class families. primary point of access is cybercafes, which supports the income and age stats (meaning they can't afford their own computer and dsl and play mostly in cybercafes near schools). average spend is around 200/week (excluding what they pay the cybercafes) and average time spent is 1-2 hrs/day.

kaso, these stats don't cover those who play console games, only MMOGs. so baka hindi apples-to-apples d'un sa survey na 'yan.

can you send me them stats? the worldwide survey is skewed towards the countries where piracy isn't as rampant and people actually buy original games.
